Collapso De La Nostalgia || 2018

Collapso de la Nostalgia is a photographic series that explores the correlation between humans and our environment. Using colour psychology and the connection between colours and human emotion, the photographic imagery captures a four month journey between Southern California and Northern Peru.

Depicting various landscapes, of jungles, oceans and deserts, the images have been distorted, transformed and saturated with colour to represent the vicious cycle of human’s destructive behaviour on the planet. The work highlights the lack of concern or recognition for the environment and people’s detrimental actions in their everyday lives. The colour collapses the landscape, making them indistinguishable in a way that involves a euphoric dream-state. Billie places roses coloured glasses through the viewers eyes, allowing the viewer to glimpse the world the way she does; to allow them to enjoy the whimsical ride while there is still a chance ...
